100s of IAC Quiet-Duct Silencers silence BSKYB

IAC Building Services has secured a major order for the supply of hundreds of Quiet-Duct Silencers for the BSKYB TV Studio project located in Osterley, West London.

IAC’s silencers are often imitated but their acoustic performance is never matched. It is this, and acoustic consultants Arup Acoustics’ confidence in IAC’s published aero-acoustic data, that led to them specifying IAC’s products.

The BSKYB building has a floor area of 23,000m2 and will comprise eight TV studios and post production facilities for 600 staff with both natural and mechanical ventilation. To ensure minimum noise break-in/out in some cases the silencers will be double skinned, and the under-floor silencers will have removable elements to facilitate cleaning. The natural ventilation chimneys for the building will be fitted with IAC Noishield Louvres.

The order was secured by Mike Jackson, Sales Manager, Building Services: “Arup Acoustics have long recognised that our products do what they say on the tin, and it was this, along with our longstanding trading relationship with the successful contractor Hotchkiss, that enabled us to clinch this order. The competition was stiff but when it comes to quality, we’ve definitely got the edge.”

Deliveries will commence in mid August 2008 and installation is scheduled for completion by March 2009.
