SHIPS AHU NUMBER 500 TO CANARY WHARF
IAC
has just notched up sales of 500 packaged air handling units (AHU's) to
London's massive Canary Wharf development. The special low-noise, on-floor
units have been installed in eight separate buildings on the 10 million
ft² estate, the first being delivered in 1998. Over 170 IAC units alone
were installed in the two 42-storey office towers in Canada Square.
IAC's
four year unbroken involvement in Canary Wharf displays a consistency
not often seen in the building industry. Sales director, Geoff Crowhurst
(right in picture), is unequivocal about the reasons behind it: "Hitting
delivery deadlines has always been critical, as has our willingness to
interface coherently and flexibly with other members of the construction
team. We've
made continuous improvements in product design and our ability to customise
and test every different unit type in a proper, full-scale test facility
has been crucial. I also think that the superior quality of the materials
and components we use to build our AHU's gives customers the confidence
that they'll provide long, trouble-free service". Though undeniably successful,
Crowhurst is the first to point out that complacency isn't an option:
"We treat every new phase, every building, as a new challenge. We're very
focussed".
The
units supplied to Canary Wharf range in duty from 3.5 to 17.5m³/s and
they all have a compact, space-saving footprint coupled with low noise
emissions and energy-efficient operation. Details of these and many other
AHU designs developed by IAC for major building projects throughout the
UK can be found in the 'Products' and 'Product Literature' sections of
our website (click on buttons, left). For assistance with any specific
