South Bank University, London, chooses IAC Silencers

Classrooms and corridors within London’s South Bank University will be quieter thanks to cross talk silencers from leading HVAC silencer manufacturer, IAC.

Over 200 Cross-Talk Silencers in a wide range of sizes are being installed in classrooms and corridors in the new-build university. These will provide natural ventilation combined with a high degree of acoustic performance.

IAC is a global leader in noise control for HVAC, is the preferred supplier of top M&E and Acoustic consultants and specifiers. All IAC’s silencers are fully lab tested and have guaranteed acoustic performance. They are manufactured at IAC’s European HQ factory in Winchester, Hampshire.

Cross Talk Silencers effectively prevent noise from passing from one space to another through vents provided for the passage of air. These are Type S silencers and are specially designed for Vent Shaft installations – where noxious or stale passes through the silencer from each room served by the common shaft and is vented outside the building. The acoustical construction of the Type S unit blocks noise from passing into the shaft and areas connected to it; however it permits the passage of exhaust air. The silencer also prevents exhaust fan noise from entering the rooms served but the shaft. Grilles are available and all types can be supplied unpainted or finish painted as required.
