IAC
GIVES STAR PERFORMANCE AT UNICORN THEATRE FOR CHILDREN
IAC
has provided attenuators to suppress plant room noise at the new £13m
Unicorn Theatre for Children in Southwark near London Bridge.
IAC’s
attenuators were fitted to the ventilation system fans in 40 rooms throughout
the theatre complex, and were used to achieve a demanding NR20 in the
main auditiorium. Design and build contractor RTT Engineering Services
of Wallington brought us in for the proven performance of our sound attentuation
products. RTT took just 8 months to complete the entire project.
The
striking copper-clad building was designed by architect Keith Williams
and contains two theatre spaces. The main Weston theatre has been nicknamed
the Theatre in the Sky as it ‘balances’ above the foyer in
a daring and exciting design.
The
Unicorn is the UK’s first children’s theatre and it will play
to over 100,000 children each year. It was opened by Lord Attenborough
amid an international fanfare on 1 December 2005.
